In Victoria, if you ever end up in front of a judge, chances are it will be at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). Each year VCAT deals with over 70,000 cases in the areas of residential tenancies, civil claims and disputes involving owners corporations.
VCAT have just added a range of free events to the Law Week 2012 calendar. Take a look at what’s on – you could learn something that will come in handy next time you purchase a faulty electrical appliance, or your tenants have stopped paying rent, or your electricity bill just doesn’t quite add up.
- Get your questions answered at the VCAT Q & A during the Berwick Justice Service Centre Open Day on Tuesday 15 May from 4.30pm;
- Visit VCAT in Melbourne during their Twilight Open Day on Thursday 17 May from 4.30pm; or
- A session for landlords in Belmont – find out how VCAT and Consumer Affairs Victoria solve tenancy disputes on Thursday 17 May at 6.30pm.
